About This Course

All of our courses are fully accredited by FAIB, an organisation established to ensure the highest standards in first aid training, giving you the confidence in the quality and reliability of our programmes. This course is open to participants aged 16 and above, and no prior first aid knowledge is required.

This 2-day Paediatric First Aid course provides essential skills and knowledge to respond confidently to emergencies involving infants and children. Designed for those caring for or working with children, the course covers practical first aid techniques, recognising medical conditions, and understanding your responsibilities as a paediatric first aider.

This course is required for early years professionals on the OFSTED register, including Early Years Practitioners, Nannies and Childminders, in line with the updated Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework .

What You’ll Learn

  • The role and responsibilities of a Paediatric First Aider, including consent, record-keeping, preventing cross-infection, and the safe use of first aid equipment
  • Assessing an emergency, prioritising actions, and calling for help
  • The Primary Survey (DR ABC) and Secondary Survey, plus using the Recovery Position and monitoring breathing
  • Administering CPR and using a defibrillator (AED) safely
  • Responding to choking, seizures, bleeding (including life-threatening bleeding), burns, scalds, and minor injuries
  • Managing serious injuries such as fractures, dislocations, soft tissue, head, neck, and back injuries
  • Recognising and treating shock, allergic reactions, and anaphylaxis using an adrenaline auto-injector training device
  • Helping children with medical emergencies including epilepsy-related seizures, diabetic emergencies, asthma attacks, meningitis, sepsis, or croup
  • Providing first aid for poisoning, bites, stings, and foreign objects in the ear or nose
  • Responding to the effects of extreme heat, cold, or electrical shock

What You’ll Receive

Your certificate is endorsed by FAIB and upon successful completion of the course, your certificate will be emailed to you.

You will also receive access to your First Aid Handbook, which has been carefully designed to support your course. Your handbook provides invaluable guidance for both theory and practical elements of your training and can be used as a helpful reference even after your course ends.

Course Prices

The Paediatric First Aid (PFA) course is available to individuals of the public and employees of organisations. This course can be delivered on-site at your workplace or at our venue.

On-Site Training

£600 for up to 8 people.

Our Venue Training
