Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is ideal for anyone looking to gain practical, hands-on first aid skills. It meets workplace first aid requirements and equips you with the confidence to respond safely and effectively in an emergency, while teaching your responsibilities as a first aider.
For workplaces with higher-risk activities or larger teams, First Aid at Work (FAW) may be more suitable. FAW covers additional techniques and is recommended when employees face specific hazards.
What You’ll Learn
- The role and responsibilities of a First Aider, including consent, record-keeping and preventing cross-infection
- Safe use of workplace first aid equipment
- Assessing a scene and knowing when and how to call for emergency help
- The Primary Survey (DR ABC): a systematic check for life-threatening issues
- Giving CPR and using a defibrillator (AED) safely
- Identifying challenges that may occur during resuscitation
- The Secondary Survey: a simple head-to-toe check for other injuries
- Using the Recovery Position and monitoring breathing
- Recognising and responding to choking
- Spotting and managing seizures
- Treating wounds and bleeding, including minor injuries
- Recognising and treating shock

The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is available to individuals of the public and employees of organisations. This course can be delivered on-site at your workplace or at our venue.
